Concrete resurfacer b&q surfaces are exposed to a lot of wear and tear from foot traffic, weather, and environmental factors. Over time, this can cause cracks and a dull, worn look. Concrete resurfacing provides an easy way to revitalize your concrete surfaces, extending their lifespan and improving their appearance. However, this restoration technique doesn’t address structural issues like heaving or settling.
To determine if your surface qualifies for resurfacing, it’s important to perform a thorough inspection of the existing concrete. Ideally, the surface should be free of major cracking and large holes. Large cracks should be filled using concrete patching material, while holes larger than a quarter inch wide should be filled with concrete repair mortar. Once the repairs are completed, the existing concrete should be thoroughly cleaned using a pressure washer and thoroughly rinsed with water.
Resurfacing Concrete with B&Q’s Concrete Resurfacer
Once the concrete is ready, you can apply resurfacing to your walkway. Resurfacer is a no-shrink blend of Portland cement, sand, and polymer additives that fills divots and makes your concrete look new again. It’s available in natural gray, or you can add color for a custom finish. It can be applied with a hopper gun for a knockdown appearance or troweled down with a steel finishing trowel for a smooth finish. One 40-pound bag covers about 35 square feet.
It’s important to use resurfacing materials meant for this purpose, rather than products sold at hardware stores. DIY resurfacing can cause problems with the adhesion between the resurfacing and the existing concrete, which can lead to breakup over time.
